Pavliuk Mykola Volodymyrovych (1920-1978)
In 1938 enrolled in the literary department of the Odessa State University, but World War II prevented further study. He studied at the Gorkyi School of antiaircraft artillery from which went to the front. From July 1942 to August 1943, he fought on the Western Front. In 1943, there was the student of the Higher officer school in Chkalov after which termination returned on the front where till December, 1945 he was involved in fights of the Third Ukrainian front, carrying out duties of the commander of the battery of the 527th antiaircraft and artillery regiment. After demobilization from army, M V. Pavliuk worked as the instructor from higher education institutions in Regional committee of Komsomol (1946). In 1947, he graduated from the Philological Faculty of Odessa State University and enrolled in graduate school at the Department of Slavic Philology. In 1949, the young scientist was transferred to Lvivskyi University where he successfully defended the master’s thesis. At the beginning of the 1950s. M. V. Pavliuk returned to Odessa. On the post of Director of the Odessa University Library, he worked from 1951 to 1960. He put for development and prestige of library a lot of effort. These years’ library workers published a number of bibliographic indexes, which became ornament among the lump of publications at the Odessa State University. The main priorities of the research work of the library are drawing up specialized card indexes, a variety of indicators, and the development of certain issues of library science. Disclosure and promoting of information capacity of funds was one of the major tasks.
